Iran said it’s ready to defy U.S. threats and send more fuel shipments to Venezuela if the South American nation requests them.

"Iran will deliver new consignments to the Venezuelan government or other countries that need our energy or raw material,” Abbas Mousavi, an Iranian foreign ministry spokesman, said in a news briefing broadcast on state TV on Monday.

The fifth and final Iranian tanker bound for Venezuela entered the country’s territorial waters on the same day, according to Iranian state media.

The government’s spokesman, Ali Rabiei, said the deliveries to Venezuela were "not a political signal but a normal measure based on the free flow of international trade.” They showed the failure of U.S. economic sanctions on Tehran and Caracas, he said.
