Doha: Malabar Gold & Diamonds has distributed winter kits to labourers in remote areas and deserted camps in Umm Bab as part of its CSR activities, in cooperation with Youth Forum Qatar (YFQ).
This is the third time the retailer has distributed winter kits in association with YFQ and will give away some 125 kits this year. CSR activities are a fundamental part of Malabar Group’s culture and it ensures that a certain percentage of its net profit is used for them every year.
Santhosh T V, Regional Head, Malabar Gold & Diamonds-Qatar, said, “We strive for the betterment of the lives of people in the areas of our operation. With the support of like-minded organisations like YFQ, we are confident that we will succeed in bringing a significant difference to the underprivileged strata of society.”
S A Firose, President, YFQ, inaugurated the campaign and said: “We are proud of supporting the event as a voluntary group to inspire expatriate youth to build a better future with a sense of responsibility to their families and society. We have succeeded in directing youth energy to the service of Indian expatriates, especially for the development of the underprivileged majority.
“Over the last two decades, we have established a presence in the expatriate community with our philanthropic and socio-cultural activities. YFQ, with a vision for future, can claim a wide reach to expatriate youth from all walks of life.” The group’s charity projects have touched the lives of thousands across the world, focusing on five priority areas — health, education, the environment, housing and women empowerment.
It is committed to make a difference in human lives by spending over `300m in charitable activities this year, part of `850m earmarked for 2012-2015.
