Beijing: A Chinese musical named "With Love, William Shakespeare" is being staged in Beijing to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare.

The musical, presented in Beijing's Star Theatre from December 31, 2015, to January 31, reinterprets the classics of Shakespeare, including Romeo and Juliet, Twelfth Night, The Taming of the Shrew and A Midsummer Night's Dream, in the context of modern China, Xinhua reported.

It tells of four young people who turn to Shakespeare's works for answers whenever their relationships are in trouble, only to end up in failure and disappointment.

The British Council has sponsored a global celebration of Shakespeare for the anniversary.

One hundred and forty countries and regions will be involved in its 'Shakespeare Lives' programme this year.
