To promote the culture of giving and spreading the spirit of humanity among various segments of society as blessed month of Ramadan is approaching, Hifz Al Naema Centre is gearing up to distribute 2,500 daily Iftar meals during Ramadan among needy people.

Also food baskets for needy families will be distributed during the holy month of Ramadan. “About 2,500 food meals will be distributed during the blessed month as Hifz Al Naema centre every year used to provide many services and various programmes during the month of Ramadan to the needy people,” public relations officer at Hifz Al Naema, Yousef Al Khulaifi, said.

Hifz Al Naema is a social centre that collects surplus food from festivals, weddings and hotels and distributes it after repackaging to poor people. Al Khulaifi explained that these meals will be delivered to their beneficiaries in their places to avoid crowding and in implementation of all the precautionary measures announced by the Ministry of Public Health.

Speaking to Qatar TV recently, he said that these meals are provided based on an agreement and cooperation with a number of donors and restaurants. “We have agreements with a number of donors and restaurants, whereby one charity organisation will provide us with 1,000 meals a day to be distributed to the needy. We also have donors and a group of restaurants who will provide us with 1,500 meals a day during the month of Ramadan,” he added.

Regarding the Ramadan tents in which Iftar is usually distributed, he noted, “We will not set up Ramadan tents this year because of coronavirus pandemic, in application of the precautionary measures applied by the State.”

Last year, more than 167,000 people and families had benefited from the humanitarian projects carried out by Hifz Al Naema. The projects included food donations, in-kind donations, awareness activities and others.
