HBJ Foundation brought smile to the face of a Syrian woman by providing food basket.

DOAH: Jassim and Hamad Bin Jassim Charitable Foundation in cooperation with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Humanitarian Funds (INSANIA) has provided 7,000 food baskets to needy people in North Part of Syria.

The project was implemented at a total cost of QR254,520 within series of Ramadan projects being executed by HBJ Foundation in several Arab, Asian and African countries.The project aimed at meeting the requirement of food items to Syrian people at a time when they are utmost need specially during holy month of Ramadan, said a release.

More than 7000 people from the families of poor, widows, people with disability, senior citizens and those displaced sheltering at tents in north part of Syria.The baskets comprising with food items specially those used in making Ramadan meals including rice,  edible oil, lentils, ghee, canned tomato, Jam, flour, wheat among many more.

Saeed Mathkar Al Hajri, CEO of HBJ Foundation, said: “The food basket is part of the projects that the Foundation has been implementing in the Ramadan seasons.” He said that providing support to Syrian people is an Arabic, Islamic and humanitarian duty, especially in Ramadan, a month of mercy and charity. Saeed Mathkar Al Hajri pointed out that the Foundation is implementing food basket projects in a number of areas affected by wars and conflicts in Syria, adding that Syrian people are having tough time due to the war in their country.

“Under food baskets project HBJ Foundation during Ramadan, around QR5m is being provided to poor families in 16 Asian and African countries. A total of 50,000 families are expected to benefit in Iraq, Yemen, Syria, Palestine, Lebanon, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Somalia, Zimbabwe, Chad, Sudan and Morocco,” said Al Hajri.
