DOHA: A misdemeanour court has fined several shopping complexes between QR10,000 ($2,746) and QR50,000 ($13,731) for not installing CCTV cameras in their premises.
Local Arabic daily Al Raya reported yesterday that the public prosecution filed charges against many violating complexes.
Authorities have been issuing circulars asking shopping complexes to install CCTV cameras and other security monitoring devices at their premises as enshrined in Law No 9 of 2011.
The authorities had allowed ample grace periods to shopping complexes to comply with the law.
