Ajaccio, France: Finland's Jari-Matti Latvala grabbed the lead after the second day of the rain-soaked Rally of France in Corsica which was reduced to two special stages because of adverse weather conditions.

The VW Polo-R driver holds a two-second advantage on surprise overnight leader Elfyn Evans in his Ford Fiesta with Norway's Andreas Mikkelsen third in a VW Polo at 30.8sec.

Welshman Evans had taken an 18.8sec advantage into the second day of the 11th of the 13-round world championship series with Latvala sitting third at 22.9sec.

Friday's second special between Casamozza and Ponte Leccia, in the north, were cancelled because of landslides caused by heavy rain and flooding as was Saturday morning's fourth special.

Latvala, 30, won the fifth special with France's world champion Sebastien Ogier clocking the fastest time in special stage six.

VW Polo-R driver Ogier suffered mechanical problems Friday but despite winning SS6 on Saturday he sits outside the top 20 at 9.26sec.
