The Lusail Tram preview service has introduced a quick, efficient and sustainable transport system for commuters.

The public enjoyed the opening of the six stations on Orange Line including Energy City South, Esplanade, Yacht Club, Marina, Promenade Marina, and Legtaifiya. In total, there are 25 stations on four lines of the tram.

Unlike the Doha Metro which has three classes (Gold, Family, Standard), there are two types in the Tram - standard and family. The existing travel card that is being used for the Metro is likewise valid for the Lusail Tram with no additional cost. Doha Metro & Lusail Tram reminded the public that “customers must always remember to tap In and tap out using the validator on board the tram to avoid extra charges.”

Layla, an elderly woman said: “I appreciated the prioritised seating, it makes it easy to find somewhere to sit, and keeps me comfortable.”

Meanwhile, a group of youth outside the station said: “It’s easy to get to each station. Sometimes we take the electric scooters or call a taxi to the drop off area.”

Qatar Rail’s metroexpress earlier announced that metroexpress bookings can be made to and from the said tram stations, including Energy City South, Esplanade, Yacht Club, Marina Promenade, and Marina. However, from January 8, it will discontinue bookings between Legtaifiya Metro station and Lusail area.

Lusail Tram will operate from Saturday to Wednesday from 6am to 11pm. And on Thursdays, from 6am to 11.59pm, while on Fridays from 2pm to 11.59pm. It has an interval of five minutes.

Yasser, a full-time worker, said: “These flexible and long hours make the tram accessible throughout the week. I can go to work early and still use it to come home late.”

Abdelrahman, a university student also agreed, saying: “The Tram has been easy to use and efficient to get around the city of Lusail.”

A mother of three Aya meanwhile said: “I feel safe in the station; it is staffed with employees to help find your way and meet your needs.”

The Lusail Tram Network is 28km long, comprising of four lines, 25 stations and 28 trams, covering the entire Lusail City and connecting with the Doha Metro via the two stations of Legtaifiya and Lusail.
