Doha, Qatar: The second edition of the Al Thumama Ramadan Championship kicks off today at Al Furjan Stadium, with seven teams ready to compete for the coveted trophy.
Young athletes from Palestine, Al Adham, Al Janoubia, Al Nusoor, Al Urdonia, Tariq bin Ziyad, and Al Yarmouk will showcase their talent and determination in what promises to be an exciting tournament. The tournament, for boys aged 10 to 14, promises to bring excitement, passion, and fierce competition under the Ramadan lights.
The opening match will feature Tariq bin Ziyad against Al Urdonia at 8:30pm, followed by a thrilling encounter between Al Nusoor and the defending champions, the Al Janoubia team. While the defending champions will look to retain their title, Al Nusoor are determined to knock them off their perch.
What makes this year’s championship even more special is the participation of the Palestine team. Despite the challenging conditions in Gaza, they have made the journey to Qatar to compete. Their presence is a powerful symbol of resilience and unity, and the crowd is eager to support them as they chase their dreams on the field.
Tournament Organising Committee Head Hassan bin Ali Al Ishaq praised the efforts of all the teams, especially Palestine, whose dedication against the odds is inspiring.
“This edition will be a celebration of talent and spirit,” he said, emphasising the importance of the tournament not only as a competition but as a unifying force for youth from all backgrounds.
