Doha: The much anticipated shopping destination Al Hazm partially opened its doors to visitors from Wednesday.
The luxury destination, which is aiming to become the destination of choice for Qatar’s elite, is open only from 5pm to 12am. They are giving visitors a glimpse of what to expect when they open fully.
Al Hazm is designed like an erstwhile shopping arcade in Italy with lot of classical European grandeur. The project’s developer Al Emady Enterprise bought original Tuscan marble from Italy, stones from Palestine and special artisans from a remote village in Rajasthan, India to make the QR3bn-project unique.
In an interview with Al Rayyan TV Mohammed Al Emadi, CEO of Al Hazm, said that the idea for Alhazm came from Italy.
He also said that while some sculptors came from turkey others are from a remote village in Rajasthan, who were specially flown in to do the intricate stone works.
The mosaic used in construction came from Greece and the stones are from Palestine.
The Thassos marble used for the outdoor floor is from Greece and these marbles reflects the sunlight and keeps the temperature stabilized throughout the day. Same kind of marble was used in Mecca.
Al Hazm will have many exclusive luxury retail shops and many high-end restaurants and 26 architects are helping with the interior design of the restaurants so that they blend in with the overall design of the project.
They have also installed outdoor cooling systems, which can bring down the temperature by 10 degrees.
In an earlier interview with Saudi Gazette Al Emadi had said: “We are optimistic in the future of this region. We also want to show that as Arabs and Khaleeji nationals, we can deliver something of this quality to the world.”
