Doha: Romania’s 15-year-old Sabrina Maneca-Voinea won back-to-back gold medals in Balance Beam and Floor Exercise finals at the 15th FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup in Doha, yesterday.
Sabrina was fifth on the Balance Beam qualifier, but the bronze medallist at last year’s European Junior Artistic Gymnastics Championships ironed out the flaws in her routines to take the gold with 13.766 points.
Coached by her mother and former Olympic gymnast Camelia Voinea, Sabrina, scored 6 and 7.766 points in Difficulty and Execution.
Ukraine’s Anna Lashchevska (13.333) pipped Germany’s Emma Leonie Malewski by a mere .100 points to claim the silver.
In the WAG competition’s last final, Sabrina collected an impressive 13.600 for the gold.
She was joined by Japan’s Chiaki Hatakeda and Breanna Scott (Australia) on the podium.
