Islamabad: Death toll from the suicide attack that targeted a security facility in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, northwest Pakistan, has surged to 13, including six children and five soldiers.

Local police and the civil defense officials stated in separate statements that suicide bombers breached the security facility yesterday with booby-trapped cars, killing at least 13 civilians and injuring nearly 30 others.

A military official said the explosion caused the roof of a nearby mosque, as well as buildings and walls, to collapse shortly after iftar, when the market in the area was teeming with shoppers.

For its part, the Pakistani army said that five of its soldiers were killed in the attack, along with four suicide bombers.
No party has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
