Doha, Qatar: The 11th edition of the “Ramadan Sports Festival 2025” at the Aspire Zone kicked off on Monday and will continue until Tuesday, March 18, 2025.
The festival is one of the most prominent sports events in Qatar, combining a competitive sporting atmosphere with the spiritual essence of Ramadan. The activities take place daily from 9pm to midnight over 15 days. The festival is organised in Aspire Zone, one of Qatar’s premier sports venues, hosting nine different sporting events covering a wide range of sports, including football, basketball, tennis, squash, and more.
The events cater to men, women, and individuals with special needs, all in a lively and engaging atmosphere that aligns with the spirit of Ramadan.
The festival provides a great opportunity for participants to test their athletic skills in a competitive and enjoyable environment while promoting sports awareness among participants and spectators.
This event serves as a sports hub bringing together athletes from various nationalities and cultural backgrounds. One of the festival’s highlights is the Embassy Football Tournament (Teams), featuring 24 embassies divided into eight groups representing different countries worldwide.
The tournament includes teams from Arab, Asian, and European nations, ensuring thrilling and competitive matches. In Group 1 are Tunisia, Tajikistan, Malaysia while Group 2 have Jordan, Nepal, Syria. Group 3 includes Somalia, China, Mali and in Group 4 are Iran, Qatar, Algeria, while Group 5 comprises of Iraq, Chad, Eritrea.
In Group 6 are Spain, Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Group 7 includes India, Indonesia, Sudan, and Group 8 have Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kenya, Thailand
The first day of the tournament delivered exciting results. The Tunisian Embassy team defeated the Tajikistan Embassy team 8-2, while the Jordanian Embassy team secured an 8-2 victory over the Nepal Embassy team.
Additionally, the Chinese Embassy team won comfortably against the Somali Embassy team with a 3-0 score. The tournament will continue until March 18, 2025, at Field 4 in Aspire Zone, where participants will compete in a vibrant atmosphere of sportsmanship and excitement, reflecting the diversity and competitiveness of this grand event.
The Men’s Tennis Championship, held from March 3 to 9, 2025, at the Ladies’ Sports Hall tennis courts, witnessed intense matches in its first round.
