Berlin: Qatar Foundation for Social Work (QFSW), along with the Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities and the Al Noor Center for the Blind, participated in the World Disability Summit, held in Berlin, Germany, from April 1 to 3.
QFSW’s participation in the summit aligns with the foundation’s commitment to the Qatar National Vision 2030, which focuses on human and social development. It also reflects the State of Qatar’s commitment to supporting disability issues at the regional and international levels, as part of ongoing efforts to support and empower persons with disabilities and promote their integration into society.
Acting CEO of the QFSW, Khalid bin Mohammed Al Kuwari said that participation in the World Disability Summit reflects a commitment to promoting the rights of persons with disabilities and empowering them in various fields, adding that this comes through the exchange of knowledge and best practices with relevant international bodies.
The programme of the Foundation’s delegation included attending the Civil Society Forum and participating in high-level side events during the summit, as well as holding meetings with prominent figures in the fields of disability and social work.
Executive Director of the Al Noor Center for the Blind, Meshal Al Nuaimi noted that this event is an important opportunity to showcase Qatar’s efforts in supporting the blind and to enhance cooperation with international organizations to develop services and programs that serve the blind and meet their needs in an innovative and effective manner.
Executive Director of Al Shafallah Center, Maryam Saif Al Suwaidi said that innovation in the services provided to people with disabilities is a key focus of the center’s work. She noted that the center is constantly working to develop innovative tools and programs that enable people with disabilities to maximize their use of technology, contributing to improving their daily lives and enhancing their active participation in society.
