DOHA: Qatar yesterday ended their week-long training camp in Abu Dhabi, Qatar Football Association (QFA) announced.

The squad - headed by coach Paulo Autouri - arrived in Abu Dhabi last Sunday and trained at Zayed Sports City Stadium through the week.

Qatar are preparing for their 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Uzbekistan on October 16.

The Asian Zone match will be played at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.

Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, President of QFA, was also present on the last day of training, officials said.

QFA Board Members and officials were also part of the delegation in Abu Dhabi.

Yesterday’s session focused on playing in the heat as the Uzbekistan clash kicks-off at 3:15pm Qatar time.

The Qatar players also watched videos of their friendlies against Bayern Munich and Tajikistan last month.

Qatar will play two friendlies - against Jordan and Oman on October 8 and 9 respectively - in Doha before the World Cup qualifying match.

Qatar midfielder Hamid Ismail said: “We have enjoyed this camp a lot. This week has been used as a means to get back into focus ahead of the match on October 16. We have improved our mental side of the game with our intense training sessions. We are eyeing a positive result against Uzbekistan.”  THE PENINSULA
