DOHA: Sheikh Thani Bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) has dispatched large stocks of diesel, warm clothing and foodstuff as aid materials for displaced Syrians.
Thousands of displaced Syrian families who are battling the harsh winter in the cities of Aleppo, Hama and Idlib will benefit from the relief materials.
A convoy of 33 trucks and tankers carrying the materials have left the Turkish city of Gaziantep for the three Syrian destinations.
The materials are for 15,000 displaced Syrian families in the cities comprising some 100,000 men, women and children.
According to a statement issued by RAF yesterday, the convoy consists of 17 tankers, each loaded with 30,000 litres of diesel.
Some five trucks are carrying blankets, each carrying 20,843 blankets, while three trucks are loaded with winter clothing for men, women and children.
The remaining eight trucks are carrying food stocks for the displaced families.
The convoy is led by Dr Mohamed Saleh, Executive Manager, RAF, accompanied by a senior colleague, Ali Yusuf Al Kuwari.
The statement said the materials have cost RAF about QR3.65m ($1m) and the money has been mobilized from generous Qatari donors.
This is fifth such convoy that has been dispatched by RAF for the displaced people in Syrian towns and villages.
