The third Annual Future Drainage & Stormwater Networks Qatar opened yesterday at City Center Rotana Hotel Doha. The conference provides a platform to discuss the progress and future opportunities arising from the implementation of Qatar’s drainage, sewage and stormwater networks masterplan.
Organised by the Advanced Conferences & Meetings (ACM), the conference started with the opening remarks of the chairman Dr Anna Grichting Solder from Qatar University followed by several presentations .
The presentations included “2017 Upcoming Project: Musaimeer Pumping Station and Outfall Project” by Tim Kelly from Public Works Authority Ashghal and Mike Hall from CDM Smith, “Drainage and stormwater management into the future” by Sam Murdock from Byrne Lobby partners, “The idea of sustainable storm water management solutions” by Andreas Amft from Enregis, “Sustainable Drainage: Designing landscapes with TSE and Storm Water” by Dr Anna Grichting Solder from Qatar University, “Performance of arch shaped geocellular structures designed for soil structure interaction” by Vivek Sharma from Stormtech, “Sustainable urban drainage systems (SUDS) management practices and facilities” by Francois-Xavier Basselot from Atkins.
The conference provided informative panel discussions on the development of the projects across the country from each consultant, and case studies on environmentally green drainage and storm water systems in education city and on utilising next generation technology to pinpoint salt water infiltration.
The conference is being held with the participation of Enregis, Eco, StormTech, WT Burden, Advances Pipes & Casts Co, Electroscan Inc, WaterMaster, HWM, Polypipe, Action and Govind Steel Company ltd.
The conference today will host speakers from Public Works Authority Ashghal, Abu Dhabi Municipality, Bennett Jones, Watermaster, Faithful+Gould, Arab Engineering Bureau, MWH now part of Stantec and will feature different case studies and a panel discussion.
