An interesting array of events lined up in Qatar covering sports to arts. 

 

A super exciting weekend is here with loads of activities to choose from. Here are few that we found interesting. 

Colour Run

The much awaited Colour Run Qatar is here. Sahtak Awalan: Your Health First will host the Colour Run at Qatar National Convention Centre on January 9, 2016. The 5-km run is a registered-only event for which a fee of QR 160 per runner is charged if in a team (four or more) and an additional QR 10 for single runner. A fun event, where volunteers will throw designated colours at designated areas. January 8, Friday, is the last day to register for the event.

Ooredoo Marathon

The fourth season of Ooredoo Marathon will start from Museum of Islamic Art on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 6:30am. The event will see runners participating in full marathon, half marathon, 10km, 5km junior and adult races along with 3km and 1km children races. 

For safety reasons, the Corniche road will be closed to traffic from 6:30am to 11:30am on Friday. Spectators can stand along the Corniche walkway at various checkpoints to get unobstructed view of the race.

Qatar International Falcons and Hunting Festival 

The seventh Marmi Challenge (Qatar International Falcons and Hunting Festival) is on at Sabkhat Marmi in Sealine. The event continues till the end of this month and will give you a glimpse in to the enthralling activities of falcons, giving you a glimpse in to the rich Qatari heritage and traditions.

Fish Out of Water

Italian lensman Carlo Rocchi Bilancini has made a mark in the world of photography capturing famous and ordinary people while immersed in a swimming pool. The project involves more than 50 people, some of whom are famous personalities in the art and entertainment world, including Italian writer and fashion designer Marina Ripa di Meana, actor and writer Pino Strabioli, Italian soprano Laura Toppetti and English mime artist Lindsay Kemp. Bilancini’s work of art is exhibited at Katara.

The Hunt: Princely Pursuits In Islamic Lands

Marvel at the lifestyle, power and bravery of royal hunters as this exhibition draws on highlights from the collections of Qatari and Turkish museums to explore and celebrate the sport of hunting, as well as the related activities of polo, feasting and fighting, all of which feature richly in Islamic art. Through a wide selection of objects dating from the 11th to the 20th centuries, this exhibition looks at hunting as portrayed in Islamic art, while also exploring how the notion of kingship was expressed throughout the Islamic world.

Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2016 

For all our sport lovers, Qatar Tennis Federation is organizing the Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2016 with top players from all over the world participating. The first event of this year, it is one of the major highlights in the Qatar sports calendar.
