Restaurants and eatery outlets across the country have witnessed an increase in sales during the holy month of Ramadan in the nighttime. Some of the entities claimed to have surged by 20 percent due to the increasing number of visitors.
As part of numerous events hosted by Qatar, Msheireb Downtown Doha, the country’s iconic leisure spot was filled with tourists, expatriates, and citizens exploring the arena attending several activities including Garangao.
Mohammed Murti Rahman, a salesman at Twenty Twenty Two Station cafe lauded the country’s efforts in promoting culture and tourism, eventuating the positivity of sales for restaurants. “I am loving it now because so many customers are approaching us due to all the events and activities happening during Ramadan,” he said, adding that the revenue increased by 20 percent this year.
Commenting on the increasing number of people day-by-day, Rahman said, “During World Cup, it was really good because a lot of tourists visited us every day and the same thing is happening right now. Events and activities are attracting more people to get together and as a result, business is improving”.
“I hope Qatar will host many more events like these so that we can see a huge number of gatherings in the country and also visit our outlets,” he added.
Another salesperson in a restaurant at the Msheireb Downtown Doha said: “It (sales) definitely is more profitable, and many people are arriving than the normal days with fewer activities.”
The sales in all the hotels and restaurants grew significantly betweeen the Iftar and Suhoor time as compared to the mornings. Expressing her enthusiasm for seeing a higher number of visitors during the Holy Month, she said: “We don’t get people like this because this place itself is a luxurious one I think, but it is worth visiting for its food and culture.”
While events continue to take place in Qatar during the Holy Month of Ramadan, several residents were seen flocking to the elegantly-built Msheireb downtown. A resident from Al Aziziya said, “On social medias, we got to know about so many activities happening here and thought to check it out.”
Given that the opulent and splendid city offers a wide range of international cuisines, he added. “After having observed the fasting, trying the restaurants here would be something you cannot miss because of the choices of food.” Activities and cultural events are seen throughout the country attracting more individuals to take part anticipating the businesses to grow further.
