Gaza: The number of Palestinian journalist martyrs has risen to 210 since the beginning of the Israeli assault on Gaza on October 7, 2023, following the death of a journalist early Monday morning due to an Israeli airstrike targeting a journalists' tent in southern Gaza.

The Gaza government media office confirmed the martyrdom of journalist Helmi Al Faqaawi, who worked for the local news agency Palestine Today, and reported that nine others were injured after the Israeli airstrike hit the journalists' tent in front of Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, southern Gaza.

The government media office condemned the killing and targeting of Palestinian journalists by Israeli forces, calling on the International Federation of Journalists, the Federation of Arab Journalists, and all journalistic bodies worldwide to condemn the systematic crimes against Palestinian journalists and media workers in Gaza.

The office also urged the international community, international organizations, and those involved in media and journalism worldwide to denounce the occupation's crimes, hold it accountable, and pursue legal action in international courts against Israeli war crimes.

Furthermore, the media office called for serious and effective pressure to stop the ongoing genocide and to protect journalists and media workers in Gaza, demanding an end to their killings and targeted assassinations.

Israeli forces have deliberately targeted journalists and media institutions during their aggression on Gaza, injuring over 400 journalists, detaining 40 others, and destroying most of the offices of local and international media organizations operating in the region. All local radio stations have been forced to close due to displacement and the lack of essential resources for journalistic work, such as electricity and internet access.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health also reported today that the death toll from the Israeli aggression on Gaza has risen to 50,752 martyrs, with 115,475 wounded since October 7, 2023.
