Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Labour has issued the monthly statistical bulletin for the month of July 2023, which highlights the key statistics and figures of the labour sector in the country, as well as the results of inspection visits to various establishments subject to the provisions of the labour Law.
The stats show that the ministry received about 7,294 applications for new recruitment, 4,655 applications were approved, and 2,639 applications were rejected, while the total number of requests to modify the profession reached 3,131 applications, 3,077 applications were approved and 54 applications were rejected.
According to MoL’s bulletin issued yesterday, the number of applications for the renewal of a work permit in the year reached 9907 applications, 9269 applications were approved, and 638 applications were rejected, while the number of applications for special work permits reached 706 applications, including 466 applications for the renewal of a permit, 64 applications for a new issuance and 176 cancelations of permits.
In terms of inspection visits to labour recruitment offices, the statistical bulletin reflected that the ministry carried out about 160 inspection tours of recruitment offices, 154 of which ended without recording observations, and 6 of them in violation.
During the month of July, the Labour Inspection Department carried out intensive inspection campaigns to monitor the extent of establishments’ compliance with the laws and ministerial decisions concerned with regulating the labour market in the country.
A total of 4137 inspection visits were carried out in various regions, which resulted in sending an alert to 427 companies to remove the violation, while the number of reports of controlling violations against companies reached 12.
With regard to labour complaints, the statistical bulletin showed that the Department of Labour Disputes received complaints from the establishment’s workers against the establishment with about 2,221 complaints, of which 546 complaints were settled, 16 of which were referred to the labour dispute settlement committees, and 1,659 complaints remained under the procedure.
The Labour Disputes Department also received 111 reports from the public, all of which were resolved.
According to the monthly statistical bulletin regarding the Labour dispute settlement committees, the number of cases referred to the dispute settlement committees during the past month reached about 16 cases, and the total number of decisions issued by the Labour dispute settlement committees reached about 384 decisions, and the total decisions that are still under procedure reached about 687 decisions.
Regarding employment contracts, the bulletin showed that the Labour Relations Department received about 63,030 applications for the ratification of employment contracts, 62,845 applications were approved, 185 applications were rejected, while the number of requests for secondment of labour reached 5,773 applications, 3,048 applications were approved and 2,725 applications were rejected.
