The construction of four health centres in Al Jamiaa, Al Waab, Al Wajba and Muaither are set to be completed by the end of this year.

The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) is currently constructing four health centres, including Al Jamiaa Health Centre, Al Waab Health Centre, Al Wajba Centre for Health and Wellness, and Muaither Centre for Health and Wellness, according to information  on Ashghal’s website.

The newly-designed health centers, adopted by the Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health, possess more “up-to-date services and spacious areas” than the old-fashioned ones, increasing capacity and enabling more diverse clinics, along with wellness services, the first of their kind in Qatar, Ashghal website further says.

Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani on Thursday visited the headquarters of Public Works Authority (Ashghal) where he was briefed that 38 infrastructure projects were completed in 2017 and 66 more such projects are expected to complete by the end of the year.

The Prime Minister was also briefed that four health centers built in Muaither, Al Wajba, Al Jamiaa and Al Waab would be completed before year’s end.

The Prime Minister praised the achievements of Ashghal in the building projects completed in the first half or 2017 that included schools, kindergartens, the Simulation Centre for Hamad Medical City and the aquaculture research centre in Ras Matbakh.

The Prime Minister was also briefed on the educational sector projects that were implemented before the start of the current 2017-18 academic year, which included nine schools and kindergartens. On four health centres, Ashghal’s website further says that Al Waab and Al Jamiaa Healthcare Centres were designed according to type (B) that comprises of two basements, a ground floor and one upper floor. The centres will include blood test clinics, women’s health clinics, specialised clinics, dental clinics, x-rays, pharmacy, labs, chronic diseases clinics, emergency, pre-marriage tests, and educational services.

On Muaither and Al Wajba Centres for Health and Wellness, Ashghal says that these two healthcare centres were designed according to Type (C), which comprises of two basements, a ground floor and one upper floor. The design of the type (C) features wellness facilities, which include a health club, massage rooms, swimming pool and sauna and Jacuzzi rooms.

“This is in addition to the main sections available in most of the primary healthcare centres, which include: emergency, specialised clinics and other women’s and men’s clinics, dental clinics, chronic diseases clinics, pre-marriage tests and labs for tests and x-rays.”

Muaither Centre for Health and Wellness is QR170m project spreading over 19,000sqm having 480 parking lots. The centre will have 45 clinics, including 10 exclusively for the dental department, Ashghal’s in-house magazine had reported few months ago.

Al Wajba Centre for Health and Wellness is being built near Umm Salama Primray School in Al Wajba. It is spread over 20,000sqm and has space for 45 clinics. The total construction cost is about QR170mn.

Al Waab Health Centre is spread over 10,000sqm and has space for 28 clinics while Al Jamiaa Health Centre, located on the southern side of Qatar University, is being built at a cost of QR150m, and has a built-up area of more than 23,000sqm with 28 clinics.
