Doha: The Cultural Village Foundation, Katara, inaugurated today the artistic corner of the Republic of El Salvador, "Measuring History through Time 2007", in front of the Katara Amphitheatre.
It is a sculpture made of iron sheets by the artist Bessi Salguero, and it symbolizes the measurement of history through time, as this piece creates a sense of something fixed and rigid in its place, that does not change even with the passage of time, as is the case in the past.
The inauguration comes within the framework of the cultural project through which Katara allows the visitors to see distinctive artistic and cultural works from around the world.
The artistic corner was inaugurated by Katara General Manager Prof Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti in the presence of the Minister of Education of the Republic of El Salvador, Carla Evelyn Hanania de Varela, and Ambassador of El Salvador to the State of Qatar, and a number of their Excellencies ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions.
For her part, Minister of Education of El Salvador expressed her thanks for the valuable opportunity this initiative provides for representing the Salvadoran culture in Katara.
She also stressed that the cultural exchange plays a major role in achieving understanding between people.
