Doha: Keralite Engineers Forum (KEF) retained the Engineer’s Forum Annual Cricket Tournament trophy, EF BECON CUP in 2016, which featured 16 Alumni teams under the forum.
In the Finals held last Friday at Old Ideal School ground, they defeated MES College of Engineering (MESCEQ) by 32 runs. Jashmeer K of KEF was adjudged Man of the Match in the Final.
KEF hit hatrick by winning the trophy 3 years in a row. At one point in the match, everyone thought MES will take the trophy. But the young team under the captaincy of Prakash put their best foot forward to retain the cup. The fielding and balling performance to defend their total was beyond comparison.
In the other match held on the same evening for the 3rd place play-off, Wayanad Engineering College (WEQ) defeated Thrissur Engineering College (QGET) by 8 runs to claim the second runner-up spot. Ratheesh Gopi of WEQ was named the Man of the Match.
This year’s tournament was jointly sponsored by BECON Trading & Contg. and MACKINS Trading & Contg. The winners were handed over the trophies by event sponsor’s representatives, Showkath Ali (MACKINS), Fazil Kareem (BECON) along with Engineers Forum Office bearers. There were other trophies for the star performers of the tournament: Player of the Tournament — Anseer M.P (WEQ), Top Scorer of the Tournament — Jasheer K V (WEQ) & Top Bowler of the Tournament – Afsal Yousuf (HEF).
