In what appears to be first time in history, a small trial, just 18 rectal cancer patients, who were administered the same drug saw astonishing results when the cancer vanished in ever single patient.
According to New York Times, 18 patients took a drug called Dostarlimab for every three weeks for six months in a clinical trial done by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and in the end every one of them saw their tumours disappear.
Dr. Luis A. Diaz Jr. of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, an author of a paper published in the New England Journal of Medicine describing the results said he knew of no other study in which a treatment completely obliterated a cancer in every patient stated the New York Times.
“I believe this is the first time this has happened in the history of cancer,” Dr. Diaz said.
Experts stated that the malignancy is undetectable by physical examination, endoscopy, positron emission tomography or PET scans, or MRI scans.
This shows that Dostarlimab has the potential to be a 'possible' cancer cure for one of the most lethal tumours.
