Doha: Qatar Shell signed an agreement with the Qatari Businesswomen Association and Interactive Business Network to become the Platinum Sponsor of the third Qatar International Business Women Forum that will be held here on October 15-16, 2012.

“Women have the power to create, nurture and lead in business and the wider community, as well as the family,” said Wael Sawan, Qatar Shell’s Executive Vice President. “Qatar Shell is proud to be able to support the empowerment of women in business through its partnership with the Qatari Businesswomen Association.”

“We are proud to see this forum grow from strength to strength in raising the agenda of women in business as well as empowering them to compete on equal footing with their male counterparts,” said, Aisha Al Fardan, Vice-President of Qatari Businesswomen Association.

The forum’s aim is to open new horizons for Arab businesswomen by empowering them to take up leadership roles in the economic arena and aligns perfectly with the vision of the State of Qatar to empower women and to support social and economic development. It will give participants the opportunity to discuss the challenges they face, share success stories as well network with likeminded women.

Raed Chehaib, Chief Executive Officer of Interactive Business Network, the co-organiser of the Forum, said that “the third forum will be the largest yet in terms of speakers, panelists and participants, a fact that reflects its growing interest in it as a major regional event”.

Qatar Shell plays an important role in enhancing the skills of Qatari women through its Qatarisation programme that aims to identify and develop Qatari talents to become the leaders of current and future Shell operations. Through the Qatar Shell Women’s Network the company is committed to developing a more gender diverse and inclusive workplace by building a strong support network to empower its members to develop themselves.
