Doha: The Anti-Doping Lab Qatar (ADLQ) has announced that it received a total of 1612 dope samples before and during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, from November 14 to December 19, 2022.
In a statement on Monday, ADLQ noted that it had contributed to the implementation of the Comprehensive Anti-Doping program, supervised by FIFA, where samples were collected by the FIFA Testing Department, and doping testing was subsequently carried out at the Anti-Doping Laboratory in Qatar (ADLQ).
The samples were received from November 14 to December 19,2022, and the turnaround time for the reporting of results was 24 to 48 hours, ADLQ pointed out.
In addition, ADLQ is the only WADA Accredited laboratory in a well-trained region, which achieved accreditation by World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) in 2014 (Athlete Biological passport) and 2015 (WADA-accreditation).
The laboratory worked 24X7 to achieve a fast turnaround time.
Overall, the drug testing for the FIFA World Cup 2022 was accomplished successfully as per the terms and conditions of the contract with the FIFA organizing committee for dope testing.
It has well trained and experienced scientists both from Qatar and the neighboring countries. In addition, a few of experts from other WADA accredited labs were also invited to assist the lab in carrying out the dope analysis.
ADLQ received excellent feedback from FIFA in a letter addressed to the General Manger after the completion of the tournament for the services provided for the Anti-Doping testing by ADLQ lab.
It was confirmed that the Anti-Doping laboratory Qatar played an important role during the FIFA World Cup 2022 and contributed towards clean sports as one of the important stakeholders.
