Qatari drivers dominated the first day of the Shiraz Rally. Qatari champion Abdulaziz Al Kuwari was preceding in most of the stages and was 18 seconds ahead of Qatari champion Nasser Al Attiyah who managed to reduce the difference. Khalid Al Qassmi of the UAE came in the third position. Another Qatari driver Khalid Al Swaidi came on the fourth position while his compatriot Khalifa Al Attiyah secured the fifth position, due to the technical failure.
