Doha: The Qatari-Tunisian supreme joint committee met for the sixth session yesterday under the presidency of Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani and Tunisian Prime Minister Habib Essid.
The premier and the Tunisian prime minister witnessed the signing of agreements, programmes and memorandums of understanding.
The second executive programme for cultural and artistic agreement between the governments of Qatar and Tunisia was signed for 2016-2018 as well as the fourth executive programme for media cooperation agreement between the countries for the same period. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation in human resources and administrative training was signed between Qatar’s Ministry of Administrative Development and the Tunisian Agency for Technical Cooperation along with an MoU between Qatar Central Bank and the Central Bank of Tunisia. Another MoU was signed on cooperation in information technology and communications between the two governments.
In addition, an MoU was signed for security cooperation between Qatar’s Emiri Guard and Tunisia’s presidential guard, and another MoU on agricultural cooperation between the two governments.
An MoU on cooperation in diplomatic training and studies was signed between the Qatari Foreign Ministry’s Diplomatic Institute and the Tunisian Foreign Ministry’s Diplomatic Institute for Training and Studies. Meanwhile, a grant agreement was signed between the governments of Qatar and Tunisia on contribution to the funding of completion of LTE network at the Interior Ministry. An agreement in security was signed between the governments of Qatar and Tunisia and another agreement on traditional industries was also signed.
During the committee meeting, the Qatari Prime Minister said the meeting gives ties more opportunity to benefit from the capabilities of both countries so as to push cooperation to the best levels in a way that serves the interests of the two peoples.
