DOHA: The Katara Public Diplomacy Center yesterday signed a memorandum of cooperation (MoC) with the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies. The signing took place during a press conference held at Katara.

The event was attended by the CEO of the Katara Public Diplomacy Center, Maryam Al Saad, and the President of the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, Dr. Abdul Wahab Al Afandi. The Deputy Director General of Katara and Director of the Human Resources Department Saif Saad Al Dosari, were also present, along with a group of academics and media professionals.

The agreement aims to strengthen joint relations in the fields of culture, social sciences, humanities, economics, and public policy. The memorandum further includes cooperation in building national capacities in the field of public diplomacy.

The two parties agreed to establish clear implementation mechanisms for this partnership, with the possibility of expanding the agreement in the future based on shared needs. Both sides affirmed their commitment to enhancing institutional cooperation in ways that serve knowledge and community development.

Addressing the press conference, Maryam Al Saad emphasised the importance of this partnership, stating: “We are pleased today to announce this agreement with the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, which we consider a crucial step in enhancing cooperation and joint work in public diplomacy and many other fields. This includes cultural events, training programs, and other initiatives that contribute to achieving our common aspirations.”

She added that the agreement aligns with Katara’s vision of supporting creativity and thought, enhancing knowledge dialogue, and opening new horizons for young people and creators to develop their capabilities.

For his part, Dr. Abdul Wahab Al Afandi, President of the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, highlighted the significance of the partnership, stating: “This collaboration represents a vital step toward enhancing interest in international relations and public diplomacy.

“The agreement aims to exchange knowledge and expertise, enhance cooperation in public diplomacy and international cooperation programs, and create an academic and cultural environment that supports development and creativity, thereby strengthening Qatar’s position as a hub for thought and innovation.”

Dr. Al Afandi also stressed the importance of public diplomacy in strengthening international relations and fostering mutual understanding and communication between peoples. He noted the Doha Institute’s academic programs in public diplomacy and international relations, which cater to students from within and outside Qatar.
