Paris: Alban de Mieulle trained Muntasar (Majd Al Arab-Danie Du Cassou) produced a sparkling gallop in the final furlong of the 2,000-metre race to pulverise his five opponents in Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club sponsored Doha Cup (Prix Manganate) held at Deauville racecourse in France yesterday.
Sporting the colours of Umm Qarn, Muntasar put across some really talented horses with a superb display of speed and stamina. Jockey Pier Convertino rode a brilliant race on the winner.
In a small field of six runners, Muntasar was taking on some of the best horses in the business and likely challengers for the Qatar Arabian World Cup to be held in October at Longchamp.
It was double delight for Umm Qarn as Tabarak (Nizam-Altese D’Arocco) took the second place ahead of Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s Mushrae, who finished a further two lengths ahead of Kahalya Classic winner Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani’s Al Mamun Monlau. Jalobey Racing’s Djarnizam Maamora Mor (Nizam Djarnila Lotoise) was fifth.
