Doha: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QE) Index crossed 11,500 level yesterday. The QE Index recorded a gain of 17.66 points, or 0.15 percent to close at 11,552.87 points. The rally was driven by buying support from Qatari and Arab investors. The index had closed at 11,535.21 points on October 7.
Top gainers in yesterday’s trade were Gulf International Services, Qatar Aluminum Manufacturing, Mesaieed Petrochemical Holding Company, Qatar German for Medical Devices and Ezdan Holding Group rising 2.5 percent, 2.1 percent, 1.6 percent, 1.3 percent, and 1.1 percent, respectively.
Qatar Industrial Manufacturing, Qatar Cinema & Film Distributing, Qatar Gas Transport, Investment Holding Group and Alkhaleej Takaful Insurance lost 1.7 percent, 0.8 percent, 0.7 percent, 0.6 percent and 0.5 percent respectively. The volume of shares traded increased to 180,214,589 from 165,312,307 on Thursday, and the value of shares increased to QR427,474,099.504 from QR404,502,403.540 on Thursday.
Indices of five sectors are ended in green zone and two sectors in red zone today. QSE Total Return Index gained 0.15 percent to 22,869.61 points and QSE Al Rayan Islamic index increased 0.26 percent to 4,832.02 points and QSE All Share Index added 0.11 percent to 3,650.75 points.
The indices of banks and financial services, industrials, real estate, insurance, consumer goods and services gained – 0.03 percent, 0.49 percent, 0.43 percent, 0.05 percent, and 0.03 percent respectively, whereas transportation and telecoms decreased to 0.42 percent and 0.22 percent respectively.
On Thursday, the QE Index declined 0.6 percent to close at 11,535.2. The Industrials and Banks & Financial Services indices led the losses. The index fell on the back of selling pressure from Qatari and GCC shareholders despite buying support from Arab and foreign shareholders. Industries Qatar and National Leasing were the top losers, falling 2.2 percent and 1.6 percent, respectively. Among the top gainers, Qatari German Co. for Medical Devices gained 2.5 percent, while Qatar Insurance Company was up 2.1 percent. Volume of shares traded on Thursday fell by 26.9 percent to 165.3 million from 226.2 million on Wednesday.
