Doha: Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra (QPO) will hold its second concert this year entitled “Dvorak and the New World” on February 17 at Katara Cultural Village Opera House.

The concert includes Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 1 in D Major, which was composed as a modern reinterpretation of the classical styles of Haydn and Mozart, and remains one of Prokofiev’s most popular works.

The performance will also feature Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 in E Minor “From the New World” or more widely known as New World Symphony.

The New World Symphony was written while the composer was living and working in New York City, and was purportedly inspired by Dvorák’s reflections on his American setting.

Andreas Weiser will be the conductor for the said concert. And there will be no intermission.

There are two timings for the concert, one at 5PM and at 7:30PM.

Ticket price for Side, Middle and Upper Orchestra is QR125; while Front Orchestra is at QR175, and for Center Orchestra, QR200.

QPO has also reminded the public that only fully-vaccinated individuals will be allowed to enter the Opera House.
