Doha: Nasser bin Khalifa Al Attiyah, (pictured) Vice-President of FIA is happy at the rapid strides Kuwait has made in motor sports over the years.
Al Attiyah, who is also the president of Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation, said Kuwait has been a pioneering country in motor sport in the MENA region. He recalled that a small beginning for motorsports was made in the mid-70s and said it has since grown and gave credit for the Kuwaiti youth for the success the country has achieved in the sports.
“The fact that Kuwait was capable of reaching the highest positions in motor sport represented a positive indicator to all of us, and thanks to Kuwaiti energetic youth who are aspiring to see Kuwait earn the lion’s share of the MENA achievements,” said Al Attiyah.
Al Attiyah is in Kuwait for the second leg of the MERC championship, 2015 Kuwait Rally, which begins with crews completing their two-day reconnaissance of the special stages today and the competitive action takes place on Friday and Saturday.
The FIA Vice-President thanked the officials of the Kuwait International Automobile Club (KIAC), the CEO of KIAC Essa Hamzah and all concerned government bodies for their role in hosting the Kuwait Rally
