Doha, Qatar: The Swiss International School in Qatar (SISQ) resonated with vibrant colours and a diverse mosaic of cultures during its celebration of International Day on June 6, 2024.

Students, parents, and teachers came together on the school campus for a day filled with festivities, highlighting the diversity that defines the SISQ community.

International Day at SISQ is an eagerly anticipated annual event, and this year was no exception. With over 96 nationalities represented among its students, SISQ stands as a true melting pot of cultures, and the event was a testament to this remarkable diversity.

The day began with the lively Parade of Nations, where students proudly carried flags representing their countries and dressed in their traditional attire, symbolizing unity amidst diversity at SISQ.

Throughout the day, parents, staff and students had the opportunity to explore different cultural villages set up on the campus grounds, including representations from various regions such as Europe, Africa, Asia/Middle East, North America, and South America. Attendees savored traditional dishes from around the world, including Fairy Bread from Australia, Paella from Spain, Baklava from Turkiye, Biryani from Pakistan, and more.

Acts included Layla with a Qanun performance from Jordan, Kindergarten Mariachi together with Des representing Mexico, Nadjoua singing a song from Palestine, a group of students performing for Ireland, PYP students singing “Douce France” from France, India represented on stage by our talented parents Chaitali and Sweety, a group of students guided by Dorte reciting a poem from Germany, and Turkey represented on stage by a group of girls from the Turkish School of Qatar.
