DOHA: Macklin Vernon Leon sparkled with 32 points as El Jaish edged past Al Wakrah 96-89 in their Qatar Men’s National League game yesterday.
Leon helped El Jaish remain in the lead in all four quarters during the tough game at Al Gharafa Indoor Hall. Leon had 2 assists. Abilmona Fadi Hani also enjoyed a great outing, managing 22 points to go along with his 8 assists.
Monroe Jr. II Sammy (20 points and 5 assists) wrapped up a winning day for El Jaish.
For the losers, Saaka Adamu (33) produced one of his better displays. Adamu had 3 assists.
He was well support by Watson Boney Harold (27). Harold had 6 assists. Al-Darwish Ahmed Yousif (11) and Mujkic Emir (10) also reached double digits.
In the second game of the day, basketball giants Al Rayyan easily beat Al Shamal 91-78 at the same venue. Davon James Dominic (35) stole the show with his powerful dunks to go along with 5 assists. Dominic was well supported by veteran Musa Yasseen Ismail (15), Elsayed Mohamed Abdelaziz (13) and Immanuel Alexander Quintin (13).
For Al Shamal, Hachad Mohamed Kamal (27) led the charge for the losers. Ambres Mildon chipped in with 26 points. Adam Khalid Abdalla Mohamed was the only player to reach double figures with 10 points.
