DOHA: The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has launched a new service that allows businessmen to register company names through a mobile phone application ‘MEC_QATAR’ using iPhone and Android devices.
The new service will help increase the efficiency and productivity of Qatar’s trade and industry, the Ministry said in a release yesterday.
The new service is one of several smart electronic services provided by the Ministry with the aim of improving business practices and streamlining registration procedures so as to facilitate investment and trade processes in the country.
Investors can reserve a commercial name using this mobile app through a series of simple steps. Once the applicant has chosen a commercial name and has filled in the required information, he will receive an SMS informing him that the transaction has been successfully submitted. After paying the application fee, he will receive a copy of the commercial name certificate via email.
The commercial name registration service represents a significant leap forward in terms of improving the quality of services offered to investors.
These smart services enable investors to get commercial permits issued as well as renewed, extract commercial registrations, look up commercial names, renew business licences thereby simplifying business practices, said the Ministry release.
