DOHA: Qatar Charity (QC) has provided support to an agricultural cooperative in Azew in the north of Ngazidja island in Comoros.
The cooperative members include some young farmers and graduates from agricultural institutes. QC’s support came through cultivating and planting a 10-hectare field, planting fruit trees (1,000 banana trees, 6,000 sugarcanes, and 500 pineapple trees), vegetables including potato.
The equipment was delivered to the cooperative during a ceremony organised by QC in the Comoros. Jaber Nasser Al Na’imi, Chargé d’ affaires of Qatar Embassy in Moroni was present along with the commissioner of the Ministry of Agriculture in Comoros, local officials from the north of Ngazidja island and Mahfouz Zmirlin, QC’s Office Director there. The commissioner praised Qatar’s efforts in supporting the people of Comoros and commended Qatari charity organisations, particularly QC, for its projects. QC has implemented projects to fight unemployment and poverty, and to support youth in the field of agricultural cooperatives.
