QU, Japan university hold engineering meeting

DOHA: The Qatar University College of Engineering (QU-CENG) recently hosted the “International Symposium on Joining Technologies and Materials Science.” The event was organised in conjunction with QU Center of Advanced Materials and the Joining and Welding Research Institute at Osaka University (OU), and supported by Chiyoda Almana Engineering LLC. CENG associate dean for Research and Postgraduate Studies Prof Abdel Magid Hamouda was joined by Japanese Ambassador Shingo Tsuda, CAM director Prof Mariam Al Maadeed, Chiyoda Almana Engineering Managing Director Shizuka Ikawa, and CENG Associate Dean for Development and Industrial Relations Dr Saud Ghani, embassy officials, and CENG faculty and students.
The event featured presentations by representatives from QU, OU, Hamad bin Khalifa University, Texas A&M University at Qatar, King Saud University and Istanbul Technical University. Topics discussed included “Progress towards energy and water security grand challenge goals at QEERI”, “Osaka University: No.1 innovative university in Japan”, “Development of a corrosion free pipeline”, “A decomposition method for surrogate models of large scale structures” and “Corrosion Atlas for different metals and Alloys in Qatar; an example of CAM’s research.”
