Brussels, Belgium: EU chief Ursula von der Leyen on Friday congratulated Mark Carney on becoming Canada's new prime minister, underscoring the importance of ties as US President Donald Trump rocks the global order.
"Today this relationship is more crucial than ever. I look forward to working with you to defend democracy, free and fair trade, and our shared values," von der Leyen wrote on X.
