Twelve-year-old French rider Nolann Macary yesterday swept both races at the 2023 FIM Mini GP Qatar Round 3, edging Egyptian 15-year-old Mohmoud Elbanna in thrilling duels.
Macary won Race 1 by a mere 3.658 secs at the Lusail Circuit Sports Club's New Karting Track, winning the 18-lap race in the MiniGP 160 class, in 16:28.843 under floodlights.
Salem bin Ladin, 13, from Saudi Arabia, booked the third spot on the podium, finishing 21.926 secs behind the winner in Race 1.
Later, Macary held off Elbanna in a thrilling contest to clinch his second win a row, this time by just a fraction of a second (0.054). Macary won Race 2 in 16:35.238. Bin Ladin once again finished third, 11.844 secs behind Macary.
