Nando’s Qatar participates Africa Day celebrations in Doha

Doha, Qatar: Nando’s Qatar accepted the invitation from the Embassy of South Africa to participate in a significant Africa Day celebration in Doha hosted by the  Africa Diplomatic Group of Qatar. 

The event, commemorating the establishment of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) in 1963, was a colourful and lively affair, underscoring the importance of this day.

Africa Day provided an excellent opportunity to celebrate and expose residents of Doha to Africa’s unity and rich cultural diversity while also highlighting Africa’s potential for growth and development. Nando’s Qatar was proud to be a part of this special occasion.

Ambassadors from countries with embassies in Doha, along with other dignitaries accredited to the state of Qatar, including Heads of International Organizations, leaders of diverse expatriate communities in Qatar, advocates and supporters of African causes, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, all gathered to celebrate Africa Day in Qatar.

Throughout the event, attendees had the opportunity to reflect on the advancements achieved by African nations, deliberate on potential future challenges, and pay tribute to the enduring friendships cultivated over the years. 

Moreover, the participants were treated to various delectable African dishes, showcasing Africa’s rich and diverse culinary traditions. 

The event was also enlivened by the uplifting melodies of traditional African music, further enriching the cultural experience for everyone in attendance.

During the event, each of the 39 African countries with Embassies in Doha was allocated a table to exhibit its national cuisine and culture. 

The South African Embassy and Nando’s Qatar collaborated to represent South Africa, showcasing the nation’s rich culinary traditions and vibrant culture. Nando’s Qatar, renowned for its Afro-Portuguese cuisine, especially its flame-grilled PERi-PERi chicken, was proud to be part of the South African presentation.

Nando’s Qatar is incredibly pleased and humbled to have been included in this beautiful celebration, which beautifully highlighted Africa’s unity and rich cultural heritage.

The Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa H E Ghulam Hoosein Asmal, expressed the South African Embassy’s sincere gratitude to Nando’s Qatar for their active participation. 

He emphasised the important role of cultural exchange and collaboration in nurturing mutual understanding and fostering enduring friendships between nations, highlighting Nando Qatar’s contribution.
