Doha: India’s Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Alumni Association of Qatar (AMUAAQ) celebrated the 198th birth anniversary of the university’s founder “Sir Syed Ahmad Khan” on December 4 at Sapphire Plaza Hotel of Doha.
Engineer Saad Al Muhannadi, the CEO of Qatar Rail Company was the chief guest, while Azim Abbas, the Managing Director of Al - Sulaiman jewelry and watches and Hassan Kunhi, the Managing Director of SciTech group were the guest of honors.
Around 240 people including families attended the function.
Sarwar Mirza greeted all the attendees and Abrar Hasan Khan started the program with the recitation of Holy Quran, Ziauddin Ahmad, the President of the Association presented warm welcome speech and presented the annual report of the association outlining the various activities and achievements of Association during the last year.
Program included a presentation on the age old ties between AMU and the Arab World, an informative talk on Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, along with many cultural activities like traditional Qatari dance welcoming the guests.
The audience were spellbound after a beautiful rendition of Naghma-E-Aligarh and University Tarana. A short Mushaira (poetic session) by Ali Imran (Advisor of AMUAAQ) was also organized on this occasion.
