DOHA: Qatar Fuel (Woqod) opened its 30th fuel station in Al Rayyan area yesterday. Woqod CEO Eng Ibrahim Jaham Al Kuwari opened the facility in the presence of senior Woqod officials and representatives from Qatar’s business community.
The new service station built at a cost of QR20m is spread over an area of 6,000 sqm and has six fuel lanes that will serve the neighbourhoods of New Rayyan, Rayyan, Wajba, adjoining Gharrafa area and the Qatar Foundation community.
The facility will offer round-the-clock services including Sidra convenience store, Kenar shops and sale of LPG cylinders.
“Opening of the new station reflects our ambitious plans to expand our network and accessibility within Qatar, to cater to the growing needs from the local market and ensure that high quality products and services are available to all our customers at their convenience across the country.”
This is the seventh fuel station opened by Woqod this year after Bin Derham, Al Lagthafiya, Al Wakra, Wajba, Al Thakhira and Lijimiliya service stations.
Woqod plans to have three new centres for vehicle inspection (Fahes) at Sheehaniya, Al Wukair and Al Khor by early next year, said a statement.
Woqod plans to increase the total number of service stations operated by the company to 100 by 2020 given the availability of land from the authorities. Other projects that are currently under construction or tendering stages and will be opened in 2016.
