Doha: Qatar has decided to cancel Qatar National Day celebration in solidarity with the people of Aleppo.
Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani announced the decision to cancel the Qatar National Day (QND) celebrations, QNA reportred.
Scores of civilians were killed by Syrian regime forces in opposition-held areas in eastern Aleppo in the past two days.
There will not be any celebrations including any Ardha dance or music, fireworks or National Day parade on December 18, Central Municipal Council (CMC) Hamad Lahdan Al Mohannadi said.
The day (December 18) remains a public holiday for government and private offices.

Yesterday Qatar had called for an emergency meeting of the Arab League Council at the level of permanent delegates to discuss the tragic situation in the Syrian city of Aleppo.
HE Saif Bin Muqadam Albuainain, Qatar's Ambassador to Egypt and its permanent representative to the Arab League, told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the permanent representative of the State of Qatar presented an urgent memo to the General Secretariat of the Arab League in which Qatar made a request to hold this meeting.
