Doha: On Tuesday, December 14, 2021, the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies held a celebration on the occasion of Qatar National Day, which falls on the eighteenth of December of each year. The academic, administrative, and student family of the Institute along with a crowd of the invited public participated in the celebration.
The celebration, which was organized by the Department of Communication and External Relations, included folkloric artistic performances such as the “Ardhah”, which is considered one of the most beautiful folk arts. Because it is directly related to people's lives, their temperament, and their environment, and its poems are from classical and Nabati poetry.
The attendees had the opportunity to meet and participate in a number of social and cultural activities, including a question-and-answer session on the history of the State of Qatar with the aim of providing an interactive experience for the employees while enabling them to win prizes. In addition to that, the celebration included reciting patriotic poetry, poems, and songs, and a lunch table devoted to Qatari folk foods. The attendees enjoyed tasting traditional foods in an atmosphere full of joy and pleasure. The day ended with a poetry evening, in which poet Muhammad Yassin Saleh and poet Hamad Al-Baridi participated, and it was presented by the TV presenter and journalist, Amal Arrab, accompanied by the Qanun player Imad Mulki.
On this occasion, Salem Hamad Al-Daiya, Director of Communication and External Relations Department, expressed his pride in holding such a celebration in the Doha Institute, with the participation of its students, professors, and staff, because they belong to different nationalities and cultures.
Thus, there is an opportunity to learn about the identity and rich heritage of the State of Qatar, and to learn more about the history and culture of Qatari society. Al-Daiya pointed out that the celebration included many diverse activities, including continuous live performances, which aimed to revive the values of Qatar and the ancient folklore that constitute an important opportunity to introduce the culture and identity of the State of Qatar, which we are proud of. There are many great achievements to be celebrated on such occasions.
Al-Daiya stressed that this celebration is an occasion in which we express our pride in the civilized achievements of the state, which has laid solid foundations for a bright present and a better tomorrow, in a country where the path of goodness and development continues, and in which the meanings of loyalty are embodied.
