Doha: The World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH), one of the global initiatives of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, announced the opening of applications for its new grant for research projects in the field of nursing with the support of the University of Calgary in Qatar, where two projects (one in Arabic) will be selected and granted a funding of USD 7,500 each.
WISH said in a statement that the door for accepting research proposals is open until Feb. 1, to encourage certified nurses around the world, regardless of their career level, to apply and participate, as the winners will be announced in March 2022.
Priority will be given to proposals that include a clear description of the project and intended to influence a particular policy or practice. The quantitative and qualitative aspects and mixed methods of studies will be taken into consideration.
In this regard, the CEO of WISH Sultana Afdhal, explained that this grant is in line with WISH's ongoing efforts to enable nursing staff to assume leadership positions in the field of research with confidence, and to give them a role in the decision-making process, it aims to encourage more nursing cadres to participate in healthcare-related research.
She stressed the important role of nursing staff in maintaining the health of community members, especially during the (COVID-19) pandemic, noting that nurses need to participate strongly in research and policy-making if we are to overcome the world's most pressing health care challenges.
