DOHA: The Ministry of Public Health has announced a recall of Advil suspension (100mg/ 5ml, 100ml) as a precautionary measure for failing to meet specifications.
The Pharmacy and Drug Control Department at the ministry said yesterday that the product has already been withdrawn from all public hospitals and health centres.
The department has asked all private pharmacies to stop selling the product and instructed importers and distributors to stop supply.

The move follows a voluntary recall by the manufacturers of all quantities of the product entering the country, said a statement yesterday.
The department said that it has immediately instructed the inspectors to implement the decision in the private pharmacies and stop selling the product. All agents have been told to recall the stocks and stop imports of the product.
Pfizer, manufacturers of the product had initiated a recall of several Advil liquid products for infants and children because of a potential risk of inconsistencies in dosing of the product. “Clumps” of Ibuprofen may form in the bottle and lead to higher or lower doses that are given to infants and children if it is not shaken well before each use, according to reports.
