Qatar attends Arab Human Rights Committee meeting in Cairo

Cairo: The 39th session of the Arab Permanent Committee on Human Rights started yesterday at the Arab League headquarters under the chairmanship of Dr Mohamed bin Suleiman Al Rashidi, with participation of representatives of member states. 

Sheikh Mohamed bin Youssuf bin Jabor Al Thani, Assistant Director at the Foreign Ministry’s Human Rights Department, is representing Qatar. 
Addressing the opening session, Al Rashidi stressed the need for supporting the Arab strategy for combating terrorism adopted by member states and working to protect human rights in the context of the fight against terrorism, cooperation and coordination with mechanisms of the Arab League.
He spoke about the condition of the people in the region such as suffering due to displacement, fear, killings and destruction caused by extremist terrorist ideologies. The five-day meeting will address Israeli violations of human rights in the occupied Arab territories, the condition of Arabs in Israeli jails and bodies of Palestinian martyrs held by Israeli occupation authorities at Al Arqam graveyard. QNA
