Niclas Johansson and Pavan Sagoo, shared the lead on the first day of the Qatar Open Amateur Championship, which got under way at the scenic Doha Golf Club, yesterday.
Adrian Meronk is in the second spot while three players, including former Qatar Masters winner Paul Lawrie’s son Craig Lawrie are tied at the third place.
Besides Craig, Jan Szmidt Jr and Mikkel Mathiesen along are in the fourth place.
Round two continues today with the last and final round of the championship to take place tomorrow.
Around 100 golfers from 33 countries are taking part in the championship. Both professional and amateur players are taking part in the event.
Of the 22 professional players, three with the best record in the championship will qualify for the Qatar Masters, an European tour event, which take place at the Doha Golf Club in March this year.
The winner of the championship along with three Qatari players will also get a chance to play in the prestigious Qatar Masters.
